Behind the Collection with Naudia Pate
Founder and creative director of Selina Rae Swimwear, Naudia Pate answers some questions about this seasons collection.
What is your inspiration behind this collection?
I wanted design suits that were bold and unique. A lot of the designs this season have a turtle neck detailing on them which is something you rarely see in swimwear. I wanted to add a bit of sophistication and boldness into this seasons designs. These suits were definitely meant to represent strength, and confidence in your body.
What is your favorite suit right now?
I would say my favorite suit is the Victoria in sky blue. It's our newest design, its comfortable, sexy, flattering and fits in all the right places. The color is so pretty and can look good on anyone. I love to cross it and wear as a bodysuit as well.
What's one trend that you wish would come back?
I love a simple black one piece swimsuit. It's simply a staple in my closet and I can't seem to let it go. It's really a suit that looks good on everyone.
What is something people may not know about Selina Rae?
The name Selina Rae came from a nickname my friend and I would call her. We were trying to think of a more exotic name that could be her alter ego name and her middle name being "Rae", we thought Selina Rae rolled off the tongue. And there, the name Selina Rae was born.
What is next for Selina Rae Swimwear?
Our next seasons collection will consist of more patterns and colors. The inspiration from last seasons collection was a city girl on the beach, this season is more earthy and jungle inspired. Lots of bright colors and of course of unique designs. Hopefully in the future starting a Selina Rae athleisure line as well.
